Pricing
Priced by the device, paid by the month.
Every plan is the same spool with the same protections. What you choose is how many devices can be connected at once.

Beyond 2,000 devices
There is no self-serve price above Org. Tell us what you are running and we will size a spool for it.
Every plan includes
- Your own hostname under spool.getknit.app, with a certificate we renew
- Your own token — read it, rotate it or remove it whenever you like
- A commons: one shared room, sealed, that we cannot join
- Messages up to 8 KiB, and 256 MiB of sealed storage per spool
- A dashboard with device and storage meters, usage charts, and settings that apply live
- A workspace you can invite teammates into
How billing works
- A month in advance
- Your first spool on a plan is a checkout, and you pay for the month ahead. Each plan renews on the day of the month you bought it.
- Another spool
- Add one from the dashboard. The rest of the current month is prorated onto that plan's next invoice, so nothing is charged on the spot.
- Cancelling
- Cancel a spool and it keeps running at full service until the end of the month you paid for, then it is removed with its data. The seat does not renew, and nothing is refunded — a month is the unit.
- Deleting now
- If you would rather it stopped today, delete it. The rest of the month is forfeited; the seat stays paid until the boundary, and a new spool on that plan takes it at no charge.
- Changing plan
- A plan change is not self-serve yet. Email sales@getknit.app and we will move you.
- Up to 4 spools per workspace
- A guard against abuse, not a plan limit. Email support@getknit.app to raise it.
- If a payment fails
- Your spools keep running while we retry, and we email you so you can fix the card first. Only 7 days past the renewal date do they begin to wind down.
- Who charges you
- Polar, our merchant of record: the invoice, the tax and the card are theirs to handle, and your card details never reach us.
Billing questions
What does “device” mean on a plan?
One connection at a time. A plan's ceiling is how many devices can be connected to the spool at once — not how many people have ever used it.
When am I charged?
When you buy a plan's first spool, for the month ahead; then on that day each month. Adding a spool to a plan you already have puts the rest of the current month on the plan's next invoice, prorated, with nothing charged on the spot.
What happens when I cancel?
The spool runs at full service until the end of the month you paid for, then it is removed along with its data, and the seat does not renew. Until that day you can keep it with one click.
Can I get a refund?
No. A month is the unit: you pay for one ahead, and cancelling lets you use the rest of it rather than returning it. If you want the spool gone today, you can delete it now and forfeit the remainder.
Can I change plans?
Not from the dashboard yet. Email sales@getknit.app and we will move your spool to the plan you need.
How many spools can I have?
4 per workspace to start, on any mix of plans. That ceiling is a guard against abuse rather than a plan limit; email support@getknit.app and we will raise it.
What if my card fails?
Nothing is deleted over a failed payment. Your spools keep running while the payment is retried, and you get an email. Only if the retries run out does the plan begin to wind down — 7 days past the renewal date.
